Award in Barista Skills 7102-53

The 3 day City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Barista Skills course has been designed to train delegates in the foundations of beverage production to a level of competence and to enable them to produce 7 drinks by passing both a written and practical assessment, giving you a nationally recognised certificate of competence.

DAY ONE CONTENT

​At the end of this day, delegates will be able to:

  • Gain an introduction of coffee from bean to cup

  • Extract the perfect espresso

  • Understand the importance of steaming and foaming milk effectively

  • Prepare five different gourmet coffees

Understanding coffee and your chosen blend

Understanding your coffee grinder

 Understanding your espresso machine

Making and perfecting the 'extraction time'

The art of 'foaming' and 'texturing' milk

Producing gourmet and speciality coffees

 Cleaning and maintaining your machine

DAY TWO AM CONTENT

At the end of these sessions, delegates will be able to:

 

  • Gain an introduction to tea from bush to cup

  • Infuse the perfect cup of tea

  • Gain an understanding of cocoa from tree to cup

  • Prepare different teas and hot chocolate drinks

 Understanding tea and your chosen blend

 Understanding your equipment

Making and infusing the perfect cup of tea

 Understanding cocoa and hot chocolate

Continuing the art of 'texturing' milk

 Producing green and black tea

Producing hot chocolate and mochas

DAY TWO PM CONTENT

At the end of these sessions, delegates will be able to:

 

  • Utilise their cold beverage equipment to deliver excellent smoothies

  • Gain an introduction of juices and smoothies

  • Create the perfect smoothie

  • Understand the basics for exceptional customer care

DAY THREE CONTENT

At the end of this day, delegates will know if they passed the course by carrying out the following:

 

You will have up to 16 minutes to complete all seven drinks.
The drinks can be produced in any order you think would be appropriate.

You will be required to complete a knowledge test, consisting of 20 short written questions, worth 1 mark each.
